"Thar's Gold in Them Thar Hills"!

Gold has been found right here at the Lost Mine of Murphy! Over the past several weeks, several miners have struck GOLD as they were mining for gems. One family from Crossville, TN found a nice labordorite stone with gold on one side and they also found a sapphire with gold on it (see photos).

Also, Stephanie Whitfield from Tallahassee, Florida found several nice gems with gold on them!

Our rockologist tells us that it is not uncommon to find gold around these parts. Many people still actively pan for gold in the local mountain lakes and streams, and with success.

And now we do too! We are now set up with the tools & equipment commonly used to pan for gold.
